Seismic Design Code: Code For Seismic Design Of Buildings (2016 Edition)

Announcement from the Ministry of Housing and Urban-Rural Development on the Partial Revision of the National Standard "Code for Seismic Design of Buildings"

　　The revised provisions of the Code for Seismic Design of Buildings (GB50011-2010) are hereby approved and shall come into effect on August 1, 2016. The original conditions revised in this amendment shall be repealed simultaneously.

　　The revised clauses and specific details will be published on the relevant website of our ministry and in the recently published journal "Standardization of Engineering Construction".

　　The specific revisions to the "Code for Seismic Design of Buildings" GB50011-2010 are as follows. Note: Underlined text in the following code indicates the revised content; bold text indicates mandatory provisions that must be strictly followed.

　　Revision Notes

　　This partial revision was made by the China Academy of Building Research, in conjunction with relevant design, survey, research and teaching units, to partially revise the "Code for Seismic Design of Buildings" GB 50011-2010, in accordance with the requirements of the "Notice on Issuing the 2014 Engineering Construction Standards and Specifications Formulation and Revision Plan" (Jianbiao [2013] No. 169) issued by the Ministry of Housing and Urban-Rural Development.

　　The main contents of this partial revision include two aspects:

　　1. Based on the "China Seismic Ground Motion Parameter Zoning Map" GB18306-2015, the "Concise Administrative Divisions of the People's Republic of China 2015", and the "Announcement on Changes in Administrative Divisions in 2015" issued by the Ministry of Civil Affairs, Appendix A of the "Code for Seismic Design of Buildings" GB50011-2010, "Seismic Fortification Intensity, Basic Design Seismic Acceleration and Design Seismic Groups of Major Cities in my country", has been revised.

　　2. Based on feedback and suggestions from various parties since the implementation of the "Code for Seismic Design of Buildings" GB50011-2010, some clauses have been revised textually. During the revision process, opinions were widely solicited from all parties, and the specific revisions were repeatedly discussed and modified, coordinated with relevant standards, and finally finalized after review.

　　This partial revision involves modifications to one appendix and 10 articles, namely Appendix A and Articles 3.4.3, 3.4.4, 4.4.1, 6.4.5, 7.1.7, 8.2.7, 8.2.8, 9.2.16, 14.3.1, and 14.3.2.

　　The underlined parts of this standard indicate the modifications; the parts in bold are mandatory and must be strictly followed.

　　The chief editor of this partial revision is the China Academy of Building Research.

　　The participating organizations in this partial revision are: Institute of Geophysics, China Earthquake Administration; China Academy of Building Research; Beijing Institute of Architectural Design; and China Electronics Engineering Design Institute.
