From October 25th to 31st, 2025, students from the Class of 2022 of the School of Materials Science and Engineering at North University of China successfully completed a week-long internship and exchange program in Dezhou. This university-industry collaboration, themed "Building a Foundation through Theory and Empowering through Practice," not only allowed students to immerse themselves in the development of the high-performance composite materials industry, but also built a solid bridge for collaborative education integrating production, learning, research, and application.
At the beginning of the internship, to help university students quickly transition to practical experience, the company carefully arranged theoretical training courses. The courses covered core professional knowledge such as "AI Knowledge of Composite Materials," "Core Knowledge and Market Applications of Carbon Fiber," "Prepreg Production Process and Quality Control," "Application of Fiber Reinforced Composite Materials in Civil Engineering," and "Epoxy Resin Characterization and Resin Systems," all planned by the group. The training combined theoretical lectures with case studies, laying a solid theoretical foundation for subsequent practical training.
Following the theoretical training, students quickly transitioned to a practical learning phase. Working in small groups, they embarked on an immersive training program covering the three major industrial bases of Jiangshan Technology, Jiangtuo Dezhou, and Guotan Composites. This included exploring the sophisticated R&D environments of laboratories, examining the array of technological achievements in exhibition halls, and witnessing the rigorous quality control processes in testing centers. Simultaneously, they delved into the production lines, gaining a comprehensive understanding of production processes, technical parameters, and production principles. This allowed students to fully grasp the entire chain of new materials development, from R&D and production to testing, transforming abstract technical principles from the classroom into tangible, operable, and understandable industrial practical knowledge. This laid a solid foundation of both theory and practice for their future professional studies and career development.
At the end of the internship, the nine student representatives who participated in the internship shared their gains and growth in practice in a vivid and specific way, based on their own internship experiences.
This practical journey spanning campus and industry allowed materials science students to clarify their growth direction through the integration of knowledge and practice. In the future, Jiangshan Technology and North University of China will continue to deepen their cooperation, jointly promoting the deep integration of industry, academia, and research, and carrying out deeper collaboration in areas such as talent cultivation and technological innovation, jointly injecting new momentum into the high-quality development of the composite materials industry.
