Prestressed Carbon Fiber Plate Reinforcement System

Introduction:

Prestressed carbon fiber plate reinforcement is an active reinforcement technology that utilizes the high strength and high elasticity of carbon fiber plates to bond epoxy adhesive to concrete components. Prestress is applied to the carbon fiber plates through anchors assembled at both ends of the carbon plates, forming a new stress balance and improving the structural bearing capacity.

The prestressed carbon fiber plate reinforcement system consists of carbon fiber plates, anchoring systems, carbon plate adhesive, tensioning fixtures, and pressure strips, as shown in the figure:

Main Material Requirements


1. For carbon fiber sheets, please refer to the technical parameters of "Xinshuo®" Grade I carbon fiber sheets.

2. Carbon fiber plate anchorage: The anchorage shall meet the requirements for static anchorage performance and fatigue performance in the standard GBT 14370-2015 "Anchorages, clamps and connectors for prestressed tendons": the static anchorage efficiency shall not be less than 90%, and the carbon fiber plate-anchorage assembly shall pass 2 million fatigue load performance tests.

3. For carbon fiber plate adhesive, please refer to the technical parameters of "Xinshuo®" carbon fiber plate adhesive.

4. All steel components involved in the anti-corrosion coating reinforcement project must be coated with anti-corrosion coating. The surface of the steel components shall be treated to Sa2.5 grade, and coated with epoxy zinc-rich primer + epoxy (micaceous iron oxide) paint + topcoat. The performance indicators shall refer to relevant specifications.

Engineering Case


National Highway 110 K1055+182 Qianlishan Third Bridge Reinforcement Project

Located in Wuhai, Inner Mongolia, this project involved reinforcing slab beams with prestressed carbon fiber plates to improve their load-bearing capacity. The reinforcement and renovation project used 120 CXS-2.0*50 prestressed carbon fiber plates. Due to the thinness of the beam bottom, steel plates were first used to thicken the beam at the anchorages at the beam ends before chemical anchor bolts were installed to ensure safety. Each carbon fiber plate has a net length of 8m, and the controlled tensile stress of the prestressed carbon fiber plates is 1000MPa, with a tensile force of 100kN.

Note:

1. The dimensions of the anchorages (including the anchoring end plates that are integrated with the concrete structure) can be optimized according to specific circumstances;

2. Model CXS-2.0*50 indicates a prestressed reinforcement system using 50mm wide and 2mm thick carbon fiber plates; other specifications are similar.

3. Other specifications of prestressed carbon fiber plate reinforcement systems can be provided according to customer requirements.
